Update on Reopening Date for Indoor Dining

(8/27/21) As many of you know, Free Lunch was planning to reopen the dining room on October 1st. However, in light of the rise of the Delta variant and the high risk of community transmission in Johnson County, we have decided to continue serving takeout and keep the dining room closed to the public for now.

As of right now, we do not have a projected reopening date, however we will continue to monitor the CDC recommendations regarding indoor mask use and the transmission rates in Johnson county. We will reevaluate and set a new reopening date once the indoors are deemed safe for vaccinated people. As per the current CDC guidelines, we ask that volunteers continue to wear masks while at FLP.

Thank you all for your continued support and patience during the pandemic. It’s been a difficult year-and-a-half and your support has kept FLP afloat through it all.

Goodbye and Hello

(7/30/21) We want to wish a fond farewell to Jama Lidral, our Director of Kitchen and Volunteer Operations, whose last day was July 30th. Jama has kept Free Lunch going in uncertain times and her hard work has been integral to the growth and continued survival of this organization. She will be well missed and we thank her for everything she has put into the Free Lunch Program.
Diane Platte will be taking her place as our new Director of Kitchen and Volunteer Operations starting in August!
We also wish all the best to Lori Dawson, our Director of Administrative Operations, who had to resign due to a personal family matter. We are thankful for all of Lori’s excellent work during her tenure at the Free Lunch Program.
Finally, our new Director of Administrative Operations, Kai Kiser, started July 6th and we are glad to welcome them aboard!
